Christian Oussi

Senior Advisor to the President for Public Affairs at LEBANESE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Dr. Christian Oussi was appointed Senior Advisor to the President for Public Affairs in July 2016. He had previously served at LAU as Executive Director of Public Relations and Media since 2006.

In his current role, Dr. Oussi is the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Office of the President. He also takes part in presidential day-to-day activities, corresponds with the media and issues press releases related to the President’s Office.

In his previous position, Dr. Oussi helped build a strong image of LAU through his wealth of contacts and experience with the media, senior government officials and international agencies. He worked closely with local media outlets to publish timely press releases about LAU, dealt with inquiries from the public, the press, and other entities and managed the social media division.

For many years before joining LAU, Dr. Oussi was a stalwart member of the Lebanese press. In the 1980s and ’90s, he reported for several major Lebanese newspapers, including Al-Anwar, As-Safir, Ad-Diyar and The Daily Star. In addition, he produced and presented various documentaries at Télé Liban and political programs at Voice of Lebanon. He went on to become head of the news department at Télé Liban in 2000.

On an international level, between 1993 and 2000 Dr. Oussi was a correspondent for the Australian SBS Television, Radio Canada International in Montreal and the Associated Press.

He received various awards and certificates and covered historical events such as the Taif accord in Saudi Arabia and the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s. He is also a member of the Lebanese Press Club, the Lebanese Press Syndicate and the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Dr. Oussi served as media advisor for then-Deputy Prime Minister Issam Fares from 2001 to 2005.

He holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Sciences from Paul Cézanne University in Aix-Marseilles, France. He also earned two B.A.s in journalism and political studies as well as a master’s degree in political and administrative sciences from the Lebanese University.
