Costantine Daher

Dean, Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing at LEBANESE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY

Dr. Costantine Daher was appointed Interim Dean of the Alice Ramez Chagoury School of Nursing in September 2019, after a one-year tenure as Interim Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. He is also chair of the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Dr. Daher received his B.S. in biology and M.S in physiology from the American University of Beirut in 1986 and 1988, respectively. He joined LAU as an instructor of biology in 1991 and became Assistant Professor in 1998, after earning his Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from the University of Surrey in England, then Associate Professor in 2005. He served as chair of LAU’s Department of Natural Sciences between 2005 and 2014 and was also appointed Assistant Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences between September 2014 and August 2018.

His research mostly focuses on natural products as sources of therapeutic agents that could be used in the treatment of cancer, lipemia, glycemia and inflammation. He has published around 36 articles in various peer-reviewed international journals.

Dr. Daher has served on and chaired several university councils, worked on biology curricula review (B.S. and M.S.), and been involved in the updates of lab facilities. He has supervised a number of M.S. and Ph.D. students, organized poster conferences, and actively participated in the LAU accreditation process.
