Denise Barnes

Denise Barnes has a diverse work experience across various industries and roles. Denise began their career at SunTrust Bank in 1999 as a Compliance Specialist, where they assisted in monitoring regulatory compliance laws and conducted compliance audits. In 2006, they joined LeChase Construction as a Contract Administrator before being promoted to Regional Diversity Manager, where they focused on providing equal access and opportunities to minority and historically underutilized businesses. In their most recent role at LeChase Construction as the Regional Director of Community Engagement & Inclusion, they developed outreach and engagement initiatives to promote community engagement efforts and implemented diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Additionally, Denise has served on the Board of Directors for The Forest at Duke since 2022 and on the Board of Trustees for Durham County Hospital Corporation since 2020.

Denise Barnes holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Human Resources from Pfeiffer University, which they earned from 2010 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Business Management Accounting from Shaw University. In addition, Denise has also achieved the certification of Certified Compliance Administrator from the American Contract Compliance Association in August 2018.
