Matthew Laverick has a diverse work experience background. Matthew is currently the Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities at Leeds Trinity University, starting in 2023. Prior to this, they were the Head of Estates and Facilities at Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust from 2019 to 2023. In this role, they worked with 37 schools and colleges across Teeside and North Yorkshire, overseeing estates compliance, asset management, capital investment, project delivery, repairs and maintenance, facilities management, grounds, and energy management.

Before joining Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust, Matthew worked at NG Bailey as a Regional Contracts Manager from 2017 to 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the end-to-end delivery of hard services FM retail contracts in the West Yorkshire region, focusing on compliance management, health and safety leadership, repairs and maintenance, planned preventative maintenance, and energy management.

Matthew's earlier experience includes roles at Kirklees Council. Matthew was an Assistant Mechanical Engineering Manager from 2013 to 2017, an Assistant Team Manager from 2011 to 2013, and a Commercial Gas and Electrical Engineer from 2008 to 2011. Their responsibilities during this time included non-domestic gas servicing, repairs and maintenance, installation works, electrical control wiring, fault finding, testing and inspection, and air handling service and maintenance.

Prior to working as an Assistant Mechanical Engineering Manager, Matthew was a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer at Kirklees Council from 2002 to 2008.
