Marlene Morales serves as the Race Equity and Advocacy Director and previously held roles as Temporary Managing Attorney and Managing Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York since September 2019. Prior experience includes a position as a Volunteer Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Frauds and Protection Bureau at the Office of the Attorney General of the State of New York, as well as a Legal Intern in the Real Estate Finance Bureau. Additional roles encompass a Summer Associate at The Wolford Law Firm LLP and a Paralegal at Sullivan Papain Block McGrath & Cannavo P.C. Professional beginnings included working as a Recording Clerk at Kensington/Vanguard National Land Services and a Labor Relations Intern at the NYC Human Resources Administration. Marlene Morales earned a Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School, a Paralegal Certification from Queens College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University.

The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York (LASNNY) fights for fairness, dignity, and justice for those living in poverty and for a society which is inclusive and equitable for all. We transform lives, build community and empower people by using the law to address individual and systemic wrongs and inequities. With offices in Albany, Saratoga, Amsterdam, Canton, and Plattsburgh, LASNNY provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and families in the 16 counties of Northeastern New York, from the Catskills to the Canadian Border. Our current priorities are Support for Families, Preserving the Home, Maintaining Economic Stability, Maintaining Safety, Stability & Health, and Serving Populations with Special Vulnerabilities, Children’s Advocacy and Delivery of Legal Services.
