Sarah Martin is a dedicated legal professional with extensive experience in various roles, including Paralegal and Legal Secretary at the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York since August 2022. Prior to this, Sarah served multiple consulting roles for nonprofit organizations, focusing on community development and advocacy, including work with the Coalition for Racial Equality and the Plattsburgh Tenants Advocacy Association. Notable achievements include assisting in nonprofit incorporation, grant writing, and engaging with local agencies for policy reform. Sarah's background features significant involvement in housing organizing through the Cooperative Development Institute and other organizations, alongside a commitment to preserving Mohawk culture. Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Syracuse University College of Law, Sarah holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Initiatives to Support Vulnerable Populations from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.

The Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York (LASNNY) fights for fairness, dignity, and justice for those living in poverty and for a society which is inclusive and equitable for all. We transform lives, build community and empower people by using the law to address individual and systemic wrongs and inequities. With offices in Albany, Saratoga, Amsterdam, Canton, and Plattsburgh, LASNNY provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and families in the 16 counties of Northeastern New York, from the Catskills to the Canadian Border. Our current priorities are Support for Families, Preserving the Home, Maintaining Economic Stability, Maintaining Safety, Stability & Health, and Serving Populations with Special Vulnerabilities, Children’s Advocacy and Delivery of Legal Services.
