Michael Schmidt

Michael Schmidt is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in both private practice and public service. Currently serving as a Volunteer Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati since December 2022, Michael previously held the position of Partner at Porter Wright Morris and Arthur from January 1984 to March 1993, and later became a Retired Member at Cohen Todd Kite and Stanford from March 1993 until July 2022. Michael is licensed to practice law in Ohio and Kentucky, representing clients in all state and federal courts. Michael Schmidt earned a Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University—Salmon P. Chase College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Xavier University.

The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati was founded in 1908 to secure justice and protect the rights of the needy. For over 100 years, the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati and its affiliate Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio, LLC, have been the primary providers of civil legal services in the Greater Cincinnati/southwest Ohio area. The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati’s mission is to resolve serious legal problems of low-income people, promote economic and family stability, and reduce poverty through effective legal assistance.
