Joseph Tiano has over 20 years of experience in private practice. In 1995, they began their career as an associate at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn. Joseph then moved on to Greenberg Traurig, LLP in 1999 and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in 2001. In 2003, they were promoted to Partner at Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP, where they grew a multi-million dollar cross boarder finance practice and managed practice economics and billing matters for a practice comprised of over 20 legal professionals generating $6 million - $10 million annually. In 2008, they became a Partner - Transactional Business Attorney, Mergers & Acquisitions, Recapitalizations at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, where they grew a multi-million dollar practice and managed the billing, invoicing, economics and day-to-day operations of a multi-office, 20 person team. In 2014, Joseph founded Legal Decoder, a legal tech company that transforms the way that legal services are priced and economically evaluated. Legal Decoder technology turns mountains of valuable and complex legal spend data into actionable information that clients and their law firms can use to make better informed and more strategic decisions.

Joseph Tiano started their educational journey at Potomac School from 1982 to 1984. Joseph then attended Gonzaga College High School from 1984 to 1988, where they earned their high school diploma. In 1988, Joseph enrolled at Georgetown University and graduated in 1992 with a degree in Business, specializing in Marketing/Marketing Management. Afterward, they attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where they earned their JD in 1995.
