Michaela Shuchman

Michaela Shuchman is a Skadden Legal Fellow at Legal Services NYC since September 2023, bringing extensive experience in legal research and advocacy from various internships and assistant roles. Prior positions include an internship at Neighborhood Defender Service, research assistance at John Jay College of Criminal Justice focusing on juvenile Miranda waivers, and multiple roles at New York University School of Law, including teaching assistantships and research assistance. Michaela also interned at the Education Law Center-PA and Advocates for Children of New York, gained practical experience at The Legal Aid Society, and contributed to research projects under distinguished professors. Before pursuing a legal career, Michaela had a successful career in theater, performing with major companies in Philadelphia and receiving three nominations for the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre. Michaela holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and Education from Swarthmore College.
