David Grimes

Member Of The Board at Legal Services of North Florida

David Grimes serves as the Staff Director for the Democratic Office in the Florida House of Representatives since January 2015, previously holding roles as Deputy Staff Director and Attorney within the same office. Grimes is a board member of Legal Services of North Florida and has been involved with the Florida Government Bar Association as Past President, President, Vice President, and Director. Additional experience includes coaching mock trial at Lawton Chiles High School, serving as Governor for The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, and holding board positions with the Survive and Thrive Advocacy Center. Grimes began legal career as an Assistant Attorney General, with responsibilities including drafting legal documents and assisting in trials. Earlier advocacy experience includes leadership roles in student government organizations at Florida State University, culminating in a J.D. from Florida State University College of Law.

Legal Services of North Florida

Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF) is a private non-profit corporation dedicated to providing free legal representation to low income people with civil legal problems. Client eligibility is based on financial income and asset guidelines set by the federal government. Cases are also screened based on a variety of factors including case type. Our service area covers the sixteen counties of north Florida: Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington Counties. The mission of Legal Services of North Florida is "To provide An Opportunity for Justice for eligible residents through representation conducted efficiently and comparable in quality to that of the private bar, and through other forms of legal assistance designed to provide a full range of civil legal services to those in need."​ Priority areas of representation include support for families; preserving the home; maintaining economic stability; safety, stability and health; and serving populations with special vulnerabilities. These translate to cases involving Family Law, Housing, Public Benefits, Employment, Education, and Health Care issues.
