Richard Lau has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Richard started their career as a Staff Writer for the Daily Nexus in 2008, where they reported for the University and Science pages and assisted in training new writers. In 2011, they joined James Publishing as a Production Editor/Content Developer, where they edited legal practice handbooks and prepared content for attorney's practice websites. In 2013, Richard worked as a Law Clerk for the National Legal Aid & Defender Association, conducting legal research and drafting internal and external communications. Most recently, they have been employed at LegalMation since 2017, serving as an AI Analyst/Production Manager. In this role, they manage a team and helps develop and train machine learning models for law-practice related applications of natural language processing and AI, in addition to performing various requirements engineering tasks.
Richard Lau completed their education history as follows: from 2007 to 2011, they attended UC Santa Barbara, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a focus on Professional Editing. Following this, from 2013 to 2016, Richard pursued a Juris Doctor degree at Cornell University. In January 2017, they obtained certification from the State Bar of California, being admitted to the California Bar.
