Joanna Smykowski, Esq. has a diverse work experience in legal and communications roles. Joanna began their career in 2015 as a Legal Assistant at The Law Offices of Shahabuddeen A. Ally, P.C. where they developed case information, evidence, and legal options. Joanna then moved on to the Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance as the Marketing and Communications Manager, where they led the marketing, advocacy, and communications activities for the JDCA. In 2016, they became a Staff Attorney at Nassau Suffolk Law Services, delivering legal support to low-income individuals in Social Security administrative proceedings. In 2018, they worked as a Supervising Pro-Bono Attorney at the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program / New Jersey Parent’s Caucus, providing advice to law students and delivering legal services to under-served populations. In 2020, they took on a number of roles, including Director of Community + Content, Content Consultant, and Freelance Writer at LegalQ, and Communications Consultant Volunteer at InStepp Inc. In 2021, they took on the role of Legal Content Manager at PERSUIT® and Associate Attorney at the Law Offices of Joseph A. Romano, P.C. Most recently, they have been working as the Director of Legal at Bizto.co d/b/a The Startup Dox, where they are responsible for overseeing and drafting all legal content. Additionally, they have been a Volunteer Writer for The Social Justice + Engineering Initiative since 2020.

Joanna Smykowski, Esq. has a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the City University of New York School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from St. John's University.
