Abu Bakr Shawky

Abu Bakr Shawky is a seasoned filmmaker and writer with a diverse background in the film industry. Currently serving as a Writer Assistant at Legendary Entertainment since October 2016, Abu Bakr also founded Desert Highway Pictures in September 2014, where responsibilities include filmmaking, producing, and writing. Previous experience includes a Teaching Assistant position at New York University from September 2010 to January 2013 and a role as a Filmmaker and Creative Director at Zad Communications LLC from January 2010 to September 2010. Abu Bakr holds an MFA in Filmmaking from New York University (2010-2016) and dual bachelor's degrees in Political Science from The American University in Cairo and Film Directing from the High Institute of Cinema Cairo (both 2005-2009).
