James D. Thorpe

James D. Thorpe, PhD, currently serves as a Technical Patent Advisor at ROBIC since August 2025. Prior to this role, James was a Research Scientist at Cyclenium Pharma Inc. from May 2024 to July 2025 and a Postdoctoral Researcher at McGill University from September 2017 to July 2025. During the doctoral studies under the supervision of Dr. Masad Damha, James focused on greener techniques for DNA and RNA synthesis using mechanochemistry and was recognized with the Coll McFee Fellowship and McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative Discovery funding. James also garnered experience as a Teaching Assistant for advanced organic chemistry and organic/inorganic chemistry labs, where responsibilities included tutoring, problem-solving, grading, and supervising lab sessions. James earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from McGill University in June 2023 and holds a BS in Honor's Bioorganic Chemistry from the same institution, as well as a DEC in Health Sciences from Dawson College.
