Sydney Barnes

Sydney Barnes is an accomplished astrophysicist with extensive experience in research and academia. Currently serving as Assistant Managing Editor for Astronomische Nachrichten since 2020, Sydney also holds the position of Prof. Dr. at Leibniz-Institut fuer Astrophysik Potsdam, contributing to astrophysical research, lecturing, and overseeing students and postdocs since 2012. Sydney has been a Research Scientist at the Space Science Institute since 2011 and served as Mercator Guest Professor at the University of Potsdam from 2012 to 2013. Previous roles include Assistant Astronomer at Lowell Observatory from 2004 to 2011 and Assistant Professor at Florida Institute of Technology. Educational credentials include a PhD in Physics and Astronomy from Yale University, completed in 1997, alongside various academic positions and fellowships throughout a distinguished career.
