Albena Lederer began their work experience in 1996 at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research as a Researcher. In 2000, they joined BASF Schwarzheide as a Researcher for a short period of time. Later that year, they moved to the Leibniz-Institut für Polymerforschung Dresden and held two positions: Head of the Center for Macromolecular Structure Analysis and Head of Polymer Separation Group. Since 2020, they have been working at Stellenbosch University as a Professor in Analytical Polymer Science.
Albena Lederer's education history begins with their earning a Dipl. Chem. degree in Chemistry from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, where they studied from 1991 to 1996. Albena then pursued further studies and obtained a Dr. rer. nat. degree in Physical Chemistry of Polymers from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, completing their studies in 1999. Finally, they earned a PD Dr. rer. nat. habil. degree in Physical Chemistry from Technische Universität Dresden, which they completed before 2011.
