Markus Schmidt

Markus Schmidt serves as the Head of Department at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology and as a Professor at Friedrich Schiller University Jena since November 2012. Previously, Markus Schmidt held the position of Team Leader for the Nanowires group at both the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light from January 2009 to September 2012 and the Max Planck Research Group, Russell Division from December 2005 to December 2008. Additionally, Markus Schmidt was a Scientific visitor at Imperial College London from April 2011 to March 2012 and a staff member at Hamburg University of Technology from August 2001 to October 2005. Markus Schmidt earned a Doktor (Ph.D.) in Physics with a focus on Photonic Crystals from Hamburg University of Technology from 2001 to 2005 and completed undergraduate studies at the University of Hamburg from October 1996 to December 2000.
