Jade Schut is an emerging professional in bioinformatics and food technology, currently serving as a Bioinformatics Intern in Computational Oncology at Leiden University Medical Center since September 2025. Prior experience includes a Werkstudent position in the Ophthalmology outpatient clinic at OLVG and a role as an R&D Scientist for plant-based foods at DUG Foodtech AB, where innovations in meat analogues and dairy alternatives were developed. As a Research Project Assistant at Lund University, Jade contributed to the EIT Food Project aimed at improving the texture of plant-based meat alternatives. Also notable is experience as a Molecular Analyst at Eurofins Clinical Diagnostics during the COVID-19 pandemic, involving RNA extractions and diagnostics. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics and Systems Biology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Master of Science in Food Technology and Nutrition from Lund University. Earlier studies were completed in Life Science and Technology at Delft University of Technology and Leiden University, alongside a semester exchange at the University of Michigan.
