Marlisa Den Hartog

Universitair Docent Middeleeuwse Geschiedenis at Leiden University

Marlisa den Hartog is a Universitair Docent in Middeleeuwse Geschiedenis at Universiteit Leiden since January 2017, where Marlisa also founded and serves as editor of the Leiden Medievalists Blog, aimed at disseminating knowledge about the Middle Ages to a broader audience. Marlisa's PhD research focused on gender and sexuality in 15th- and 16th-century Italy, analyzing concepts of sexual identity and behavioral norms through medical, theological, and literary sources. Additionally, Marlisa has experience as a Conservator of History at Het Noordbrabants Museum, where involvement included the development of permanent and temporary exhibitions, and as a Projectmedewerker for the "Archeologie op de kaart" project at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden. Marlisa holds a Master of Arts in History from Leiden University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the same institution, complemented by an experience at the Koninklijk Nederlands Instituut Rome.
