Maria Messner is an experienced educator and researcher with a strong background in chemistry and biology. Currently serving as a Chemistry and Biology Instructor at Lenoir Community College since August 2014, Maria develops web-based courses, instructs students, and provides academic advising. Maria has also led an International Program Committee aimed at enhancing cultural awareness among students and faculty. Recent experience includes a role as Associate Academic Director at SSP International, where a focus was placed on microbial antibiotic resistance research. Earlier positions span program management and instruction in STEM at Engineering For Kids, data analysis at Logoworks, teaching at El Alba Bilingual School, and conducting postdoctoral research at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Maria holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and a B.A. in Psychology and Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
