Jimmy Person began their work experience in 1987 at Wilson Medical Center, where they served as the Employment Manager. In this role, they managed and directed the employment function of a 317-bed acute care hospital, free-standing long-term care facility, and child care center. Jimmy was responsible for staffing and recruitment strategies, compensation, regulatory compliance, and new employee orientation.

In 1996, Person joined Goldsboro Milling Company as the Human Resources Manager. Here, they established the first human resource management function in a multi-entity, 1000+ employee agricultural enterprise. Jimmy also centralized multi-entity HR functions into one department and coordinated DOT, CDL driver compliance, and random drug testing programs.

In 1997, Person joined Lenoir Memorial Hospital as the Human Resources Director. In this role, they served as the project leader for Performance Management electronic conversions and gained experience with HRIS conversions. Jimmy focused on managing compensation and benefits with an emphasis on strategic market-driven benefits and pay practices to affect recruitment and retention goals. Jimmy also chaired the Employee Safety Committee, emphasizing workplace employee risk mitigation, safety education, and return to work practices.

Jimmy Person attended Barton College from 2009 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Accounting. Prior to that, they attended North Carolina State University from 1985 to 1991, pursuing a Master's in Public Administration (MPA).
