Jan Uhlir

Electromechanical Engineer at Lenz Labs

Jan Uhlir has a diverse range of work experience in engineering roles. Most recently, in 2021, they worked as an Electromechanical Engineer at Lenz Labs. Prior to that, from 2020 to 2021, they were the AI Hardware Team Lead at Edinburgh University Formula Student, leading the team responsible for AI hardware development. In the same year, they also worked as an MEng Project Student Placement Engineer at Danfoss Power Solutions, focusing on reducing acoustic noise emission in Digital Displacement pumps.

In 2019, Jan served as the Engineering Team Lead at Asteria: Space and Satellites, overseeing the development of a CubeSat project and leading a team in various engineering tasks. Jan was also an R&D Engineering Intern at Artemis Intelligent Power Ltd., where they researched and developed hydrodynamic journal bearings for Digital Displacement pumps.

In 2018, they were the Powertrain Team Manager at Edinburgh University Formula Student, managing a team in the development and improvement of components for an internal combustion powertrain. Jan also gained research experience as a Research Intern at the American University of Beirut, working on a project designing cooling vests for paraplegic patients.

In 2017, Jan worked as a Design Engineer at both Edinburgh University Formula Student and HYPED. At the latter, they collaborated on a project aiming to develop a prototype for the Hyperloop Pod Competition and contributed to the design and manufacture of a unique propulsion system.

Jan Uhlir's education history begins in 2008, when they started attending PORG for their high school education. Jan completed their high school degree at PORG in 2016. In 2013 and 2014, they briefly attended The Priory Academy LSST for high school.

After completing their high school education, Jan Uhlir enrolled at The University of Edinburgh in 2016, where they pursued a degree in MEng Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Jan studied in the field of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the university until 2021, when they presumably completed their degree.
