Garrett Stern

Sr. Director of UGotClass at LERN

Garrett Stern is currently the Sr. Director of UGotClass at LERN. Prior to this, they were the Senior Program Manager at the University of Richmond from February 2017 to September 2020. In this role, Garrett developed and managed Professional Education programs, oversaw the Professional Education program budget, and built and maintained collaborative partnerships between Richmond businesses and the School of Professional Continuing Studies. Garrett also recruited and managed over 50 instructional staff members, and mapped out the long-term strategic vision for Professional Education programs.

Before their role as Senior Program Manager, Garrett was the Community Initiatives Coordinator at the University of Richmond from July 2015 to March 2017. In this role, they created a new partnership model to make environmental programming more impactful for students, co-facilitated the procurement of new volunteer management software, and co-led the CCE’s Environmental Think Tank to integrate environmental programming into Community Based Learning programs. Garrett also managed and mentored the student leadership team and collaborated with community partners to coordinate and manage over 350 student volunteers in Northside Richmond neighborhoods.

Garrett began their teaching career as an Instructor and Coordinator at Thai-Chinese International School from July 2014 to July 2015.

Garrett Stern has a Mini MBA from the University of Richmond, a Master of Nonprofit Studies from the University of Richmond, and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from James Madison University. Garrett also has a Political Campaign Management Professional Certificate from the University of Richmond and a Permaculture Design Certificate from the University of Richmond. Garrett is also certified by LERN as a Certified Program Planner and by the University of Richmond as a Permaculture Design Certificate.
