Shin-Shin Hua is an experienced professional in AI governance and competition law, currently serving as an Associate Fellow in AI governance research at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and as an Assistant Director in the Digital Markets Unit at the Competition and Markets Authority. Since January 2020, Shin-Shin Hua has been a Research Affiliate at the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk at the University of Cambridge, focusing on how regulation, particularly competition law, influences long-term AI risk. Previous roles include Senior Competition & Regulatory Lawyer at Openreach, Competition & Regulatory Lawyer at BT, and EU and UK Competition Lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, representing major global clients before regulators. Education includes an M.A. in Law from the University of Cambridge and an Advanced Master of Laws in Public International Law with Distinction from Leiden University.
