Steve Kelly has a long and varied career in IT and finance, beginning in 2000 when they were appointed Head of UK Projects for first-e, the internet bank. In 2002, they moved to Bank of Ireland as a Programme Manager and then to HP in 2004, where they held the roles of Account Executive, Client Manager and Head of Compliance. In 2012, they moved to SKMC Ltd as a Director and also took on the role of Senior Consultant at TORI Global, where they were responsible for delivering complex solutions and managing relationships with key clients. In 2014, they moved to Deutsche Bank as a Senior Consultant and then to TESM LTD in 2015. In 2016, they joined RSA as IT Director and CIO, where they were responsible for IT strategy, service, run, change, business projects and partner management. Finally, in 2019, they joined Leveris as CIO and Advisory Board, where they were responsible for digital banking. In 2021, they became an Independent Consultant.

Steve Kelly attended Blackrock College from 1979 to 1990, and then University College Dublin from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Civil Engineering.
