Keri Petersen currently serves as the Senior Director of History & Exhibitions at the Levine Museum of the New South, a position held since August 2022, while also operating KTPetersen Consulting as a Historian and Public History Consultant. Previous roles include Assistant Professor of History at Johnson C. Smith University from August 2017 to August 2022 and Chair of the Department of Humanities as well as Assistant Professor of History at Bennett College from August 2011 to July 2017. Keri Petersen's experience also includes serving as an Instructor at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and various positions at the North Carolina Railroad Company, including Archivist and Corporate Historian. Early career highlights encompass a Graduate Internship with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and curatorial research at the North Carolina Museum of History. Keri Petersen holds a PhD in History and a Master's degree in Public History/Museum Studies from North Carolina State University, along with a Bachelor's degree in History from the same institution.
