Roy Burns III

Design Director at Lewis Communications

Roy Burns III has a long and varied career in design. Roy began their career in 1994 as an Art Director at FitzMartin. In 1997, they moved to Lewis Communications as a Senior Art Director and Art Director. In 2000, they joined Razorfish as Senior Art Director/Experience Lead, where they worked on creative solutions for both the off-air group and interactive group, and was part of a team that received the first ever EMMY award for a digital experience/website. In 2001, they joined Stoltze Design Group as Design Director and Senior Art Director. In 2006, they were a Guest Speaker at TypeCon, presented by the Society of Typographic Aficionados, and in 2013, they became a Founding Board Member of Design Week Birmingham. In 2017, they were a Judge for the 2017 Communication Arts Design Annual (Design Annual 57), and in 2021, they were a Judge for the New Talent Competition 2022 at Graphis Inc., on a panel comprised of former Graphis Platinum and Gold winners, and Graphis Masters.

Roy Burns III attended the University of Montevallo from 1989 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and Photography.
