Tamar Shahinian

Tamar Shahinian is a versatile professional with a strong background in dance, research, and health sciences. Currently a researcher at Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing, Tamar is conducting a participative case study on societal and aesthetic norms of dance. In addition, Tamar is involved as a junior researcher and dancer in the extreme citizen science project "It takes a village to grow old" with PRA Muziektheater, focusing on community connections in Amsterdam-Oost. With experience as a dance workshop facilitator at Stichting de Vrolijkheid and a yoga Pilates instructor at Studio Balance Amsterdam, Tamar has also contributed as a program support officer for FNO Zorg voor Kansen, addressing health disparities. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in International Public Health and a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Dance from Fontys Hogeschool Tilburg. Tamar's artistic journey includes performances with Het Internationaal Danstheater and teaching dance to youth at Jeugdtheaterschool Rabarber.
