Connie Thrift

Commissioner at Liberty County Georgia

Commissioner Connie Thrift is the youngest of nine children of the late John and Beulah Crosby. Her family migrated to Liberty County via the US Army, and she has been a life-long resident of Liberty County since birth. She is a 1979 graduate of Bradwell Institute.

After graduating from high school, she married her husband John Thrift, and they have been happily married for forty-one years. They have two sons: Jonathan and Justin. In addition, they are the proud grandparents of two granddaughters and one grandson. She and John are proud owners of Thrift Auto Repair, where they have worked together for the past forty-one years.

Mrs. Thrift and John have been members of the Gum Branch Baptist Church for thirty years. Mr. Thrift serves on the deacon board while both husband and wife serve as Sunday School Teachers. Over the years, the Thrifts have served on numerous church committees. She and John enjoy ministering to others and going camping. Mrs. Thrift enjoys reading, going to the beach, and spending time outside.

Mrs. Thrift was first elected on the Liberty County Board of Commissioners in 1999, running against six candidates. She would experience opposition in two more election cycles, but ran unopposed in the 2019 election cycle. Together, she has been on the Board of Commissioners for twenty years. She has completed her ACCG certification and has attended many other ACCG training functions. Mrs. Thrift serves as the liaison between Liberty Regional Medical Center and the Board of Commissioners.

Mrs. Thrift is very active in the community. She is currently serving as Secretary of Diversity Health Center, and has served as Past Chairman and Vice Chairman. She is a member of the Liberty County Armed Forces YMCA. She has been serving as Chair of the Canoochee Electric Membership Cooperative (EMC) for the past three years and was honored to serve as President of the Georgia Electric Membership Cooperative for a two year term (2014-2016).
