Chief Risk Officer at Liberty Group South Africa

Mark Wonfor has extensive work experience in risk management and forensic services. Mark began their career at Gold Fields Training Services as a Trainee Accountant, where they received practical training in various financial divisions. Mark then moved to Goldfields Mining and Development as a Senior Internal Auditor, responsible for conducting internal audits and special investigations. In 1994, they joined Liberty Health Holdings as a Senior Forensic Investigator and was later promoted to Head of Group Forensic Services. In this role, they formulated and implemented the company's forensic services anti-fraud policy, strategy, and framework. Mark also mitigated fraud risks across the Group and reported to various executives and board committees. In 2007, they became the Chief Risk Officer at Liberty Health Holdings, where they oversaw enterprise and operational risks, compliance, and internal audit requirements. Mark also played a key role in establishing the Group Customer Risk function and the Policy Governance function.

Mark Wonfor completed a Bachelor of Accounting and Related Services degree at the University of South Africa (Unisa) from 1989 to 1992. Mark then pursued further studies and obtained a BCompt (Hons) degree in Accounting and Related Services from Unisa between 1993 and 1994.
