David Barry

Mr. Barry’s innovative and visionary approach to real estate has resulted in the successful development of many creative residential and hotel projects throughout the region. Ironstate owns and manages approximately 10,000 residential and hotel units and has over $1 billion in its development pipeline. The firm is a leader in transforming emerging neighborhoods into thriving and popular destinations. Neighborhoods Barry has been in the vanguard of revitalizing include Jersey City, Hoboken, Staten Island, Harrison, and Williamsburg. Barry recently launched Urby, a brand of thoughtful, modern apartments combined with a boutique hotel mindset. Barry has successfully completed Urby developments in Jersey City, Staten Island, and Harrison and another is opening soon, in Stamford, CT. The Jersey City Urby—at 69 stories, the tallest residential building in New Jersey—has been recognized as an instant architectural landmark on the Jersey City skyline. Barry's record in real estate also includes major investments in such notable hotel projects as Standard East Village, Chiltern Firehouse, Pod Hotel Williamsburg, W Hotel in Hoboken, and opening soon, the legendary Chelsea Hotel on 23rd Street in Manhattan.

A magna cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and a former all-Ivy wrestler at Columbia University, Barry was an attorney prior to forming Ironstate with his business partner and brother, Michael. Barry serves on the boards of Fortress Investment Group LLC, the Lowline, and Beat the Streets Wrestling, Inc. Barry was team leader with the USA Wrestling Team at the 2012 London Olympics.
