Shannon Evans

Early Childhood STEM Educator at Liberty Science Center

Shannon Evans is an experienced educator with a strong background in STEM education, arts coordination, and special education. Currently serving as an Early Childhood STEM Educator at Liberty Science Center since June 2022, Shannon designs and facilitates engaging STEM programs for children in grades PreK-2. Previously, as Education Program Coordinator at West Hudson Arts and Theater Company, Shannon coordinated affordable theater arts programs for low-income youth. In a dual role at Hudson Arts and Science Charter School, Shannon contributed as both Professional Development Coordinator and 3rd Grade Teacher, achieving notable student growth metrics and implementing innovative professional development sessions. Earlier experience includes serving as a Resource Room Teacher at St. Martin of Tours School, where Shannon tailored instructions for students with varying abilities and managed Individual Education Plans. Shannon holds a Master of Science in Education with a focus on Reading Specialist from Saint Joseph's University and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Special Education from Neumann University.

Liberty Science Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to getting learners of all ages excited about the power, promise, and pure fun of science and technology. Liberty Science Center houses 12 museum exhibition halls, a live animal collection with 110 species, giant aquariums, the Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium (the biggest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere), a 3D theater, live simulcast surgeries, tornado and hurricane-force wind simulators, K-12 classrooms and labs, and teacher-development programs. More than half a million students, teachers, and parents visit the Science Center each year, and tens of thousands more participate in the Center's offsite and online programs.
