Brett Zongker

Brett Zongker serves as the Chief of Media Relations at the Library of Congress since October 2017, leading the media team and coordinating communications campaigns to promote various programs and events. Zongker previously worked as a Public Affairs Specialist at the Library of Congress and as the Senior Associate Director of Media Relations at The George Washington University, overseeing media strategy and editorial planning. An adjunct professor at American University, Zongker teaches writing and media literacy courses. Earlier career highlights include roles as a Staff Writer and Video Journalist at the Associated Press, where Zongker broke news and created a dedicated beat on arts and culture, and as an Education Reporter at Current Newspapers. Zongker holds a Master’s degree in Journalism and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Communication, both from American University.
