Jennifer Erwin

Faculty Director, Stem Cell Core at Lieber Institute for Brain Development

Jennifer Erwin has worked in a variety of roles in the field of neuroscience. From 2010 to 2017, they were a Staff Scientist and Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. During this time, they directed the lab's efforts in the NIMH brain somatic mosaic consortium and led the successful grant application to apply the custom targeted single cell genomic sequencing approach to identify genomic variants in schizophrenia postmortem tissue. From 2017 to present, they have been an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Faculty Director of the Stem Cell Core at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development. In this role, they supervise an additional team of scientists, the stem cell core space, and the collection and banking of human postmortem dura fibroblasts for the Lieber Institute Brain Bank. Jennifer also supervises the reprograming of human dura and dermal fibroblasts to induced pluripotent stem cell lines.

Jennifer Erwin has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Genetics from Harvard University, a B.S. in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and attended Menlo School.
