Arun Wiita

Arun Wiita is an advisor at Life.io. Arun was previously a postdoctoral scholar at UCSF from July 2011 to December 2014. Their research there focused on the use of multiple systems-level technologies to monitor the response of multiple myeloma cells to exposure to the first-line clinical therapy bortezomib, revealing unique insight into cell death caused by cancer chemotherapeutics. Arun also worked on employing the selective labeling of free protein N-termini in the blood of patients undergoing chemotherapy for blood cancers to identify new biomarkers of chemotherapeutic efficacy.

Wiita has received numerous awards for their work, including the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation Fellowship (2012-2015) and the Jane Coffin Childs Fund Post-doctoral Fellowship (declined). Arun has also published their findings in several prestigious journals, such as eLife 2:01236 (2013) and PNAS (2014).

Arun Wiita attended Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). They also attended Columbia University in the City of New York, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neurobiology/Biophysics. In 2002, Arun Wiita graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Chemistry and Finance. They are certified by the American Board of Pathology in Clinical Pathology and by the Medical Board of California in Physician License.
