David J Vachon, PhD, MBA is the Founder and CEO of Iasis Molecular Sciences Inc., an advanced materials company with a goal of reducing health care associated infections by protecting the medical devices interacting with the patient and the elements of the surrounding patient ecosystem. Prior to founding Iasis Molecular Sciences, Dr. Vachon served as Principal Scientist at St. Jude Medical developing cardiac pacing lead technologies and as Director of Glucose Sensor R&D at Minimed as part of the team to introduce the first marketed subcutaneous glucose sensor.
Dr. Vachon completed his PhD training at the University of New Hampshire in the Weisman laboratory and post-doctoral research at the University of California, Santa Barbara under the direction of Dr. Fred Wudl and Dr. Alan Heeger at the Institute for Polymers and Organic Solids, now the Center for Polymers and Organic Solids. Dr. Vachon also earned an MBA from the California State University at Northridge. Dr. Vachon has been an active board member of the Health Sciences and Services Authority (HSSA) of Spokane County for the past 5-years. HSSA’s strategic initiatives include increasing local health sciences research and the infrastructure that supports it and increasing access to care services in Spokane County for at risk populations.
