Juan Felipe Ortiz

Juan Felipe Ortiz is a Senior Engineer I in Bioinformatics at Lifebit, starting in January 2024. Prior to this role, Juan served as a Research Scientist at the National University of Singapore from March 2022 to January 2024 and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at RIKEN from May 2019 to March 2022, where independent research focused on structural genomics and the integration of sequencing technologies into clinical and basic research. Earlier, Juan contributed as a Research Scientist at RIKEN, providing bioinformatics support in phylogenetics and genomics, as well as developing original research projects. Juan obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological Sciences from Vanderbilt University between 2014 and 2019, a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming in 2012-2013, and a degree in Biology with a focus on Computational Biology from Universidad Nacional de Colombia from 2006 to 2011.
