Thomas McKinney has worked in the software engineering field since 1996. From 1996 to 1997, they were an English Language Consultant for the Korea Ministry of Science and Technology, and an English Language Lecturer at Gyeonggi University. In 1998, they were an English Language Lecturer at Incheon University and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). From 1998 to 2000, they worked as a Software Developer for Kenda Systems. From 2000 to 2011, they worked at Copyright Clearance Center as a Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Principal Software Engineer. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Principal Software Engineer at EMC, and from 2014 to 2017, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Oberthur Technologies. Since 2018, they have been a Software Engineer at Life Image.
Thomas McKinney has a long and varied educational history. Thomas attended Tantasqua High School from 1985 to 1988, followed by Yale University where they received a Bachelor of Arts in Astronomy in 1994. In 2000, they obtained a Sun Certified Programmer for Java 2 Platform certification from Sun Microsystems. Thomas then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst to study Computer Science. Most recently, they obtained a Python for Everybody Specialization certification from Coursera in April 2018.
