Erika Carlson has a diverse range of work experience in the education industry. Erika is currently serving as the Head of School at LifePlus Online Academy and as the Director of Digital Learning at Leadership Development International. Prior to these roles, they were the Head of School at Wuhan Yangtze International School from 2017 to 2021. Earlier in their career at the same school, they held positions such as Assistant Principal, English Language Arts Instructor, Accreditation Coordinator, and College and Career Counselor. During their tenure, they successfully launched the Parent-Teacher Organization, led school improvement initiatives, coordinated programs, managed department budgets, developed and implemented new curriculum, initiated the use of teacher websites and standards-based grading, and built a developmental program for university and career planning. Erika also refined the standardized testing program within the international setting.
Erika Carlson completed their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in School Improvement, Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia between 2016 and 2019. Prior to this, they pursued a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University from 2009 to 2011. In their undergraduate years, Erika obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in English/Language Arts Teacher Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, which they completed from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, Erika obtained two certifications: an English as a Second Language Endorsement and a Spanish Foreign Language Endorsement, both from the Illinois State Board of Education in 2015.
