Gertrude Matemba-Mutasa has a diverse and extensive work experience. Gertrude is currently serving as the President and CEO of Lifeworks Services, Inc., a position they assumed in April 2022. Prior to this, from January 2020 to April 2022, they worked as the Assistant Commissioner at the MN Department of Human Services.
Gertrude has also held leadership roles in various organizations. Gertrude was the Executive Director of the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center from August 2018 to January 2020. Additionally, at First Children's Finance, they served as the Director, overseeing fundraising, program development, and lending and investing activities from February 2017 to August 2018.
In their previous position at WomenVenture, they held multiple roles, including Director of Lending and Consulting Services from August 2014 to February 2017, and Director of the Women's Business Center from January 2015 to January 2017.
Gertrude's earlier experience includes being the Director and Owner of Bright Beginnings Preschool from 2011 to 2014 and serving as a Business Consultant at the Small Business Development Center from 2001 to 2004.
Gertrude Matemba-Mutasa obtained a Bachelor's degree from Bennett College, where they pursued a dual major in Accounting and Business Administration from 1992 to 1996. Following this, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of North Carolina between 1998 and 2000. Additionally, they have obtained two additional certifications: a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (ICYB) from the MN Department of Human Services in February 2021, and a certification in Building Relationships While Working from Home from LinkedIn in September 2020.
