Justinas Balčiūnas

Chief Operating Officer at Ligence

Justinas Balčiūnas has worked in a variety of roles since 2016. In 2016, they completed a Clinical Internship at Hopital Universitaire Habib Borguiba, where they assisted in surgeries and presented cases during morning rounds. In 2018, they completed a Clinical Internship at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital, where they assisted in surgeries, conducted physical examinations and presented cases during morning rounds. In 2018 they also became a Health Policy Intern at the Standing Committee of European doctors (CPME), where they researched and created reports on health-related policy developments in the EU, attended and reported from external events hosted by EU institutions, and organised a conference on interprofessional education and collaboration. From 2017 to 2019, Justinas was employed by the European Medical Students Association (EMSA) in various roles, including Permanent Officer in Brussels, European Health Policy Internal Affairs Assistant, and Twinning project and local coordinator in Lithuania. During this period, they were responsible for liaison with European Institutions and Medical Organisations, attended external meetings and advocated for European Medical Students on behalf of EMSA, and was part of a working group on a European-wide survey. In 2019, Justinas also became a G4A Digital Health Intelligence Associate at Bayer G4A Health and Chief Operating Officer at Ligence. In 2021, they began working as a Resident Doctor in Psychiatry at Respublikinė Vilniaus psichiatrijos ligoninė.

Justinas Balčiūnas obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in 2021, after studying Medicine from 2014 to 2021. Justinas also obtained a Doctor of Medicine - MD from Université Grenoble Alpes from 2017 to 2018.
