William R. (Bill) Hanson

William R. (Bill) Hanson has over 20 years of experience in the mechanical engineering industry. William R. (Bill) began their career in 1999 as a Senior Product Design Engineer at Handspring, where they were the Technical Lead in the development of the Visor Edge PDA. In 2000, they moved to Palm, where they collaborated with senior management and marketing to define future Palm organizers and contributed to over 25 patents, 15 of which were granted. From 2001-2003, they worked at GearHead Product Design as a Principal Engineer/Designer, completing projects for IntelliDx, Inter-4, and Calabasas Creek Research. From 2003-2006, they were a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Zircon Corporation, where they were the Mechanical Team Lead in the development of a modular laser layout system. From 2006-2008, they were a Staff Product Design Engineer at Pacific Biosciences, responsible for the development of the SMRT Cell 8Pac. From 2008-2011, they were an Engineering Lead at ZIP Innovations, part of a multi-disciplinary team developing various iPhone/iPad accessories. From 2011-2015, they were a Mechanical Engineering Manager at Sentons, leading mechanical engineer for a startup developing ultrasound-based touch sensing technology for consumer electronics applications. Since 2019, they have been a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Light Field Lab, Inc.

William R. (Bill) Hanson completed a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 1984. William R. (Bill) then went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from San Jose State University in 1900.
