Kaiwei Tang

CEO and Co-Founder at Light Phone

Kaiwei Tang has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. In 2006, they started their career at Sutech Industries, where they worked as a Product Lead until 2012. In 2013, they joined UChicago Medicine as a Design Lead. Kaiwei then worked as a Design Entrepreneur at Google's 30 weeks program from August 2014 to June 2015. Following this, Kaiwei co-founded and worked as the Design Lead at Homemade from September 2014 to February 2016. In 2016, they briefly worked as an Entrepreneur at HAX. Currently, Kaiwei is the CEO and Co-Founder of Light, a company that they established in February 2015. Light Phone, a simplified phone designed to minimize distractions, is one of the notable products they designed and built.

Kaiwei Tang began their education at the Institute of Design (ID) in 2004, where they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in product development, marketing, and finance. Kaiwei completed this degree in 2006. In 2012, Kaiwei Tang furthered their education at the Institute of Design (ID) once again, this time earning a Master of Design in industrial and product design, user-centered design, and design research. Kaiwei completed this degree in 2014. Additionally, in 2012, Kaiwei Tang attended New York University for non-credit certificates in industrial and product design.
