Nick Smart

Nick Smart has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and companies. Nick began their career as a Metallurgist in Training at Skorpion Zinc in 2005, followed by a role as a Commodity Manager at Anglo American in 2006. In 2006, they also worked as a Project Manager at Anglo Coal. Nick then transitioned to Anglo American Brasil in 2007 as a Process Design Engineer. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as a Mining Analyst at Anglo Platinum. In 2010, they joined Anglo American as a Commissioning Engineer, responsible for commissioning and operational handover.

Nick's work experience then led him to The De Beers Group of Companies in 2013, where they served as a Plant Manager, overseeing the Victor process plant. Afterward, they worked as the Executive Technical Assistant to the CEO, providing technical support and managing special projects. From 2016 to 2018, they held the role of Operations Director, responsible for all physical operations in developing a significant new business opportunity.

In 2018, Nick joined Lightbox Jewelry as an Operations Director, where they built an end-to-end supply chain for laboratory grown diamonds and jewelry manufacture. Nick also established North American distribution and fulfillment for both DTC e-commerce business and B2B wholesale. Nick then took on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer from July 2022 to November 2022. Throughout their career, Nick has demonstrated their expertise in operations, strategy development, stakeholder engagement, and leadership.
