Yelong Xu

Senior Photonic Design Engineer at Lightelligence

Yelong Xu has several years of work experience in the field of integrated photonics. Starting in 2010, Xu worked as a Research Assistant at Nanjing University, where they designed a silicon waveguide array on a SOI platform and studied optical Bloch oscillations. In 2014, Xu became a Visiting Researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, where they designed and simulated a distributed feedback laser and grating couplers on an InP chip. They also worked on a project involving lasing and coherent absorption in a single cavity. From 2016 to 2018, Xu served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Université Laval, focusing on the integration of a flexible-grid comb generator and multi-channel modulators for photonic interconnects. Most recently, Xu joined Lightelligence in 2019 as a Senior Photonic Design Engineer.

Yelong Xu began their education in 2006 at Nanjing University, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Yelong completed their undergraduate studies in 2010.

Afterward, Xu continued their education at Nanjing University, embarking on a joint-cultivated Ph.D. program in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Yelong successfully completed this program in 2014.

Seeking further academic advancement, Xu then enrolled in the UC Berkeley College of Engineering in 2014. Here, they earned a joint-cultivated Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, completing their studies in 2016.

In summary, Yelong Xu's education history entails a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Nanjing University, followed by a joint-cultivated Ph.D. program at the same university, and eventually a joint-cultivated Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley College of Engineering.
