Hongtao (Luke)

Hongtao (Luke) Ma has a strong background in product development and management, particularly in the field of LED lighting and electric vehicles. Hongtao (Luke) currently works at Lime as a Sr. Manager, leading the development of the next-generation smart swappable battery and charging system for Lime's fleet hardware. Prior to this, they worked at Uber as a Sr. Product Quality Manager, where they focused on product development and quality efforts for IOT devices and batteries for e-mobility. Hongtao (Luke) was responsible for leading task forces for failure analysis and root causes of major hardware and firmware failures, resulting in significant cost savings and improved fleet safety. Before Uber, they were a Director at HONOURTEK, where they led the team in product design, development, and market launch for their application-specific LEDs. Hongtao (Luke) also has experience at Luminus Devices as a Director of Product Development, where they led the development of LED COB packaging products and created multiple lines of innovative automatic COB production. Their career also includes roles at Bridgelux, Inc. as a Sr. Reliability Engineer and Cisco as a Semiconductor Packaging and Reliability Engineer, where they played a key role in the successful conversion to lead-free electronics.

Hongtao (Luke) Ma completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Xi'an Jiaotong University in the years 1993 to 1997. Hongtao (Luke) later pursued their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Materials Engineering from Auburn University between 2000 and 2002. Continuing their education, Hongtao obtained a Ph.D. in Electronic Packaging/Electrical Engineering from Auburn University, which they completed from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, in 2005 to 2006, they also obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Business Administration and Management, General, from Auburn University.
