Dan Steingart has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role as an Independent Director at FREYR Battery, which they started in January 2023. Prior to that, they were a professor at Columbia University in the City of New York, starting as an Associate Professor of Chemical Metallurgy in February 2019 and later becoming a Stanley-Thompson Professor in June 2022. Dan also served as an Advisor/Chief Scientist at Electra since September 2020. Additionally, they co-founded Liminal Insights Inc. in October 2015 and worked as an Industry Advisor at Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. starting in January 2016. Before that, they were an Associate Professor at Princeton University from February 2013 to January 2019 and an Assistant Professor at City College of New York from December 2008 to January 2013. Dan also has previous experience as a Senior Application Engineer at Sentilla, a Lecturer at UC Berkeley, and the CTO of Wireless Industrial Technologies.

Dan Steingart attended Great Neck South High for their high school education from 1992 to 1996. Dan then enrolled at Brown University where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science, completing their studies from 1996 to 2000. Following that, they attended the University of California, Berkeley and obtained a Certificate in Management of Technology from the Haas School of Business, which they completed from 2001 to 2003. Lastly, they returned to the University of California, Berkeley and obtained a PhD in Materials Science, completing their studies from 2000 to 2006.
