Dana Murphy

VP of Learning & Community Engagement at Lincoln Park Zoo

Dana Murphy is the current Vice President of Learning & Community Engagement at Lincoln Park Zoo. Prior to their current position, Dana was the Vice President for Learning and Guest Engagement at the Denver Zoo from June 2012 to July 2015. From October 2008 to May 2012, Dana served as the Director of Education and Outreach for Friends of the Chicago River. Murphy began their career with the Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo in January 2005 as the Manager-Conservation Career Development and held that position until January 2008 when they became the Youth Program Coordinator until January 2005. Dana started with the Chicago Zoological Society in January 1997 as the Exhibit Interpretation Coordinator and held that position until January 2001. Prior to their work in zoos, Dana was a Science Teacher at Proviso Township High Schools from January 1985 to January 1989.

Dana Murphy attended the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign, where they earned a Bachelor of Science. Dana then attended National Louis University, where they earned a Master of Education.

Their manager is Kevin Bell, President & CEO. They are on a team with Rena J. Solano - CFO, Linda Leadbitter - VP of HR & Administration, and Megan Ross - Zoo Director.
