Cultural Community Advocate at Lines for Life

Derric Thompson has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Derric worked as a Co Director at Leaders Become Legends from November 2019 to the present, where they were responsible for managing operations, fundraising, program development, marketing, and community outreach. Derric also mentored youth through employment and wellness programs. Prior to that, they worked as a Cultural Community Advocate at Lines for Life starting from March 2020. Before that, they were an Executive Director at FIVE STAR GOODS, where they oversaw the development of practices, implemented policies, and strategic business goals. Derric'swork experience also includes a role as a Case Manager at S.E. Works from February 2011 to October 2019, where they managed the youth employment service program and acted as a mentor and advocate for youth in crisis, trauma, and life skills. Derric also collaborated with community partners and employers to assist youth with employment opportunities.

Derric Thompson has pursued education and obtained certifications in various fields. Derric attended Portland Community College, where they studied Business Administration and Management without completing a degree. Derric also attended Rose State College, where they earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Social Work.

In terms of certifications, Derric obtained the "Habilitation, Empowerment and Accountability Therapy for Youth" certification from H.E.A.T. Time in December 2020. In March 2020, they completed the "Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)" program offered by Lines for Life. Derric also holds a "Job Seeker Services - Professional Certification" from WorkSource Oregon, which they obtained in September 2019.

Derric's certifications also include "Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)" from Correctional Counseling, Inc. CCIMRT, obtained in July 2017. In December 2013, they received certification in "Job Development" from Career TEAM LLC. Additionally, they have pursued a "Professional Level Drug, Alcohol & Addiction Counselor Certification (DAACC)" from Daystar Education, although the specific dates of obtaining this certification are not provided.
