Imran Abbas has a diverse and extensive work experience. Imran is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Link Africa™ since December 2022. Prior to this, Imran worked at Facebook from 2018 to 2022, where they held various roles including Partner Manager and Infrastructure Partnership-Sub Sahara Africa. Imran also worked as a Partner Manager at http://www.facebook.com/frisby from 2018 to 2022. Before their tenure at Facebook, Imran served as the Chief Technology Officer at Liquid Telecom South Africa from 2016 to 2018, where they later became the Chief Delivery Officer. Imran also worked as the GM - Network Implementation at Liquid Telecom from 2006 to 2016. Imran's earlier experiences include working as the Managing Executive at NBSS from 2008 to 2010, and as the General Manager at Plessey from 2003 to 2006. Imran started their career at Telkom SA in 1991 as an Area Manager, responsible for various master plans and budget requirements.
Imran Abbas has a diverse education history. In 1993, they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, at Johannesburg Technikon, which they completed in 1995. Moving forward, Imran then obtained a Management - Bsc degree from Technikon SA between 2000 and 2002. Motivated to further their education, in 2002, they pursued a Masters Degree in Programme Management at Cranefield, which they successfully completed in 2005.
In 2010, Imran attended an Executive Leadership program at Michigan, focusing on Management. As they continued their academic journey, they received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Management of technology and Innovation from the daVinci PHD program in 2013. With a comprehensive education background spanning across various fields of study, Imran Abbas has honed their expertise in engineering, management, and technology.

Link Africa™ builds, owns and operates Fibre Optic Networks in South Africa’s major cities on a wholesale basis. These networks are comprised of metropolitan and access networks as well as the last mile to the end customer's premises. Our business aspirations: Deployment of significant metropolitan backbone infrastructure in the major South African metros. Deployment of FTTH and FTTB architectures to selected areas. Deployment of metropolitan area network active networks in the major South African metros. Deployment of the Link Africa™ service provisioning platform to selected areas in South Africa. Deployment of significant FTTH and FTTB connections in the five major South African metros. The value proposition from Link Africa™ for the delivery of telecommunications infrastructure and services is simply to deliver it more cost effectively and faster than anybody else using a range of innovative technologies and partnerships, thereby driving down the cost of broadband for the end user and making South Africa an advanced high speed telecommunications community.
